Hamlin One of Six Local Players Drafted
Half a dozen local players were selected in the recent OHL Priority Draft including four players from the Windsor Midget team.
Max Donoso was taken by the Ottawa 67's, Ray Hamlin went to the Hamilton Bulldogs, Nicholas Beneteau was selected by Sarnia, and Cayden Faust was taken by the Kingston Frontenacs.
Other local players drafted were Shaun Horne from Sun County by the Spitfires and Logan Mailloux was taken in the second round by London.
Hamlin says he owes a lot to his father, Kevin, the head coach of the University of Windsor men's hockey team.
"He's helped me a lot and obviously I wouldn't be here without him and both my parents actually, they've been awesome along with my brother too. They all love me and support me and that's all everyone needs.
Hamlin says there are a couple of NHL players he models his game after.
"Joe Thornton and Ryan O'Reilly in the NHL are both two-way big centreman, big guys and they can play defence and play offense at the same time."
Hamlin, a centreman and the captain of his team for the past four years is also an honours student at Holy Names High School.
