It's Time to Spring Forward

It's time to 'spring forward.'

We move our clocks ahead one hour to Daylight Saving Time at 3am Sunday.

Windsor Fire and Rescue also wants you to check to make sure you have working batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when you move your clocks forward.

Chief Fire Prevention Officer, John Lee says the batteries should be changed at least twice a year.

"Test them and if you don't know when you last changed your batteries, or it's been over a year, for sure, they should be changed," says Lee. If you changed them in the fall, consider changing them again in the spring."

Lee calls smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors "good, cheap insurance" when it comes to early notification, saying "they do save lives."

Windsor fire says tampering with or removing batteries from your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors is against the law.

Failure to comply can result in a $360 ticket or fines up to $50,000.

Daylight Saving Time ends on November 3rd.
