Jobless Rate Down In Windsor

Windsor's jobless rate is on the decline and below the national rate for September.

Statistics Canada says 5.8% of Windsorites were looking for work last month — down from 6.2% in August.

Windsor sits roughly middle of the pack when compared to all big Canadian cities.

St. John's, Newfoundland holds the dubious distinction of having the country's highest unemployment rate coming in at 8.9% — followed by Calgary and Edmonton at 8.5%. Canada's national rate for September was 6.2%, while Ontario came in at 5.6%.

Numbers show that the country added roughly 10,000 jobs last month — driven by growth in public-sector employment. Year-over-year employment expanded 1.8% across Canada.
