A hockey program for underprivileged children is celebrating its 12th year in Windsor.
Knobby's Kids was founded by Jerry Slavik and Robert "Knobby" Knudsen when the pair saw a need for a free hockey program in the community.
Knudsen passed in 2011 but the program lives on.
Over the weekend, the St. Clair College Alumni Association dropped off its annual cheque to pay for ice-time and insurance at Lanspeary Park Outdoor Rink.
Slavik says he and his dear friend didn't think the program would become a permanent fixture at the rink every Saturday morning.
"We thought a couple years and that would be it, but it just kept rolling," says Slavik. "Rain or shine we're there; we've never missed a week in 12-years."

The association has donated $40,000 to the program over the past eight years.
Slavik says he continues to be humbled by community support.
The organization has yet to turn away a boy or girl because they didn't have equipment or room for them at the rink.
