LaGuardia Celebrates 40 Years in Business
A downtown Windsor restaurant is celebrating a milestone.
LaGuardia Italian Cuisine at 59 Pitt St. East opened its doors 40 years ago this month and is marking the occasion with a five-course meal on June 20th.
"I don't feel a day over 40," says owner Michael Ciliberto who credits the quality of the food and consistency for the restaurants longevity.
The restaurant added a bar three years ago and currently has a capacity of 65 people in its dining area, plus 25 at the bar.
The restaurant has survived three recessions and Ciliberto says the customers are loyal.
"People who come here, they know what they are going to get, consistency and quality, we use a lot of local products and it shows in what we do and people keep coming back."
Ciliberto says he is committed to the downtown core.
"I always thought that being in the heart of the city is where you should be," he says remembering the day when Americans used to crowd his restaurant on Pitt St.
