Lakeshore Man Charged after Belle River Standoff

A Lakeshore man is facing several charges after a brief standoff in Belle River.

Provincial police dispatched their Emergency Response Team to St. Charles Street and St. John Street at around 7:30am Tuesday.

The area was closed off for about an hour before the 50-year-old surrendered without incident.

According to the release, OPP recovered two restricted semi-automatic handguns from the home.

Police say the man is facing charges of pointing a firearm and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
