LaSalle Police Identify 19-Year Old Killed In Single Vehicle Crash
LaSalle police have released the name of the victim involved in a fatal crash.
19-year-old Nick Monforton was killed when the pick-up truck he was driving hit a pole on Monty Street Thursday afternoon.
Police say speed was a factor and Monforton was not wearing a seatbelt--he was ejected from the vehicle.
Constable Harbinder Gill says police know a lot of teens in the town and they take this personally.
"19 years old here, he was just starting his life out," he says ."Either you are getting out in the workforce or deciding to go to university and college. This is a young life cut short."
Constable Gill says it is a tragic loss that was preventable.
"No matter what we say or do-not just as police or us as a community, it will not bring this child back to the parents."
Gill says it's not yet known how fast Monforton was driving.
He was the only person in the vehicle.
