LaSalle town council has approved its 2018 budget in principle.
On Wednesday, council voted in favour of a one percent hike.
Deputy Mayor Marc Bondy says administration was proposing a 1.75 percent increase but council asked staff to cut $225,000 from the budget.
He says he's pleased with the 2018 budget.
"What they did bring was good and hopefully we'll make it a little bit better and affordable for the residents," says Bondy.
Bondy says the budget includes more funding for infrastructure and salaries and adds the new minimum wage bill has impacted the budget for 2018.
On average, residents will see an increase of $9.50 for every $100,000 assessed.
The budget returns to town council on January 9 for final approval.
