LaSalle Tavern Closes Its Doors, Workers Unaware And Upset
Employees at Sunnyside Tavern in LaSalle are questioning the sudden closure of the restaurant.
General Manager Janelle Taylor says she was on her way to work on Wednesday when she received a text message from the owner who said the restaurant is now closed, the locks and security codes have been changed.
Taylor says she reached out to her employees who also received the same text message.
She says there were no indications the restaurant was closing and the owner and her were working on plans to re-launch the establishment.
"I felt a little bit betrayed and I think we're all pretty hurt," says Taylor. "We were a family there and we were all excited for the changes to happen so we felt pretty hurt. I don't know what's going to happen in the future, I don't know what his plans are. He definitely hasn't let us know. We've tried to contact him and I don't know if anybody else has got in contact with him, I personally have not," she adds.
The tavern is located on Wahneta Ave. near Front Rd. in LaSalle.
AM800 News has called the restaurant and left a message but has not heard back.
