Leamington Council Getting Ready To Tackle The 2017 Budget

Budget deliberations begin next week in Leamington.

Mayor John Paterson says the draft document calls for a slight tax increase.

He says the hike is in the range of 1.7 to 1.8 percent.

Paterson says the budget includes a number of projected capital projects.

"We're going to continue working on the waterfront development expansion and I know we're looking at some investment in the uptown core this year as well.  All of these things are being mentioned in our budget but until council says yes or no none of it can really be promised until that happens," says Paterson.

Paterson says over the last few year's the town has been at zero or near a zero percent increase.

The town has set aside three days for deliberations beginning next Wednesday.
