Leamington Opens Warming Centre Due To Power Outage

(Update - as of 4pm on Friday January 6th, 2017) 

Power has been fully restored in parts of Essex County.  The power was knocked out on Thursday around 5pm.

The warming station in Leamington is now closed.


The Town of Leamington has opened a warming centre due to a power outage.

Residents without power can seek shelter at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex at 249 Sherk Street.

Power was knocked out yesterday around 5pm.

At its peak, 1,100 customers in Essex County including Leamington, Lakeshore and the Tilbury area were without hydro.

A crash is blamed for the interruption.
