LISTEN IN: Another Steamy Weekend On The Way
Just in time for the weekend, we have a Heat Warning in effect.
According to Environment Canada Meteorologist Gerald Cheng, a hot and humid air mass is expected to arrive Friday and remain in place through the weekend.
He says afternoon temperatures in the low 30s will combine with high humidity to result in humidex values near 40.
"Basically, the air mass is with us the whole weekend and into early part of the next work week so four days, possibly."
Meteorologist Gerald Cheng speaks with AM800's Peter Langille about the weekend weather
While we could see some showers, Cheng says don't expect a widespread rain event.
"You might get a heavy downpour but it's very hard to pinpoint where that is going to be and it's certainly often times with thunderstorms it's not widespread so we certainly have to monitor and watch the situations as they unfold."
A cold front is forecast to move through the area Monday night ushering in cooler temperatures and lower humidity.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
