LISTEN IN: Chasing Hazel Foundation Thrilled With New Gerber Baby
A Windsor group advocating for families with children who have Down syndrome is overjoyed, in fact, the co-founder could hardly contain her excitement.
For the first time in 90 years, the Gerber baby is a child with Down syndrome.
"Oh my god. It is just so exciting, like first of all, he is an absolute dreamboat. He is just adorable," says Stephanie Seguin, co-founder of the Chasing Hazel Foundation.
Baby Lucas is a one-year-old from Georgia and was picked from more than 140,000 entries.
Seguin says she is so proud of the company because it sends a powerful message.
"It is going to bring all these new ideas of beauty, capability and worth and all of these things, it is going to be more of a powerful message than even Gerber could understand."
She says it is all about a society that is inclusive and Gerber's choice does so much for people with Down syndrome.
Lucas's smiling face will be all over Gerber's social media all year long as the 2018 'spokes baby.'
The family also won $50,000.
