Local Designer Heading To Vancouver Fashion Week
Quite the opportunity for a local fashion designer.
Fashion Design Technician, Ashley Regnier, is heading to Vancouver Fashion Week to showcase her 'Shhh Fashions' clothing line.
Regnier is a graduate of the St. Clair College Fashion Design Technician program and was nominated by program coordinator Elaine Chatwood to be part of the show.
Regnier says she had no idea she was being considered.
"It's one of the biggest shows in Canada," says Regnier. "Sara Murray had emailed my coordinator at St. Clair, Elaine Chatwood; they had said that she should nominate three different graduates from the past three years. So, I have been sponsored to produce eight pieces for a runway show on September 20."
Regnier says the sponsorship is a big help.
"That would cover my models, my hairdressers, my makeup artists, my backstage managers, my dressers, the DJ and all that equipment, the space. Whereas, I have to fund my flight out there as well as my accommodations. So I did start a Go Fund Me for that," says Regnier.
Regnier sees this is her big chance.
"There's media coverage in the US, the UK and China, Germany," says Regnier. "Vogue is going to be there, Elle is going to be there, Marie Claire, Flair. So this could mean getting discovered."
Regnier has set up a Go Fund Me page to help cover her accommodations and other show costs.
Vancouver Fashion Week runs September 18 to 24.
