Local Talent Signs With Lancer Basketball

The Windsor Lancer men's basketball roster will include a couple of local recruits for the upcoming season.

Head Coach Chris Cheng says he is excited about the commitments of 6'2" Akot Aken of Kennedy Collegiate and 5'11" point guard Kassen Chiang-Byas from Assumption College Catholic High School.

"It is important to keep local talent at home and I am thrilled that both Akot and Kassen have committed to stay home," says coach Cheng. "Windsor and Essex County produces talent and this speaks to the level of coaching they are receiving and the commitment to player development. They will continue to pave the way for future Lancers here in Windsor."

Aken led Kennedy to an OFSAA gold medal this season following an undefeated regular season. Throughout his career at Kennedy, Aken also helped the Clippers to three WECSSAA championships, three SWOSSAA championships, and an OFSAA bronze medal in 2016.

Aken will study kinesiology and will also join the Lancer track & field program as a multi-event athlete.

Chiang-Byas was named a first team all-star this year and finished the season as the Purple Raiders leading scorer. He will study biology in the fall.
