Major Development Planned For Ruthven

Significant growth on the way to Ruthven.

Kingsville mayor Nelson Santos says the hamlet currently has about 600 homes and another 130 will be added once the Queen Valley Subdivision is completed.

Council has given the go ahead for the 130 lot development which will be located at the east end of Road 2 E. extending north to County Rd 34.

Santos says it's a good fit for the community.

"We look at planned development and growth, here we have a subdivision that is going to continue the connection of a community and provide for future opportunities for residential development in an area that is quaint and pretty unique. So we're pretty fortunate to see another investment happening in the municipality."

Santos says there's a need for homes in that area.

"It's going to provide additional sustainability for that area. It's just off of Highway 3. It's interconnected between Leamington and Kingsville. So access to amenities are readily available there. So it's a bonus, certainly for our community to see a developer come forward in a hamlet that has just got a bright future ahead."

Santos says the town is hoping for some industrial development in that area as well.

Santos says it's not yet clear when the six-phase development will be completed, but construction on phase 1 is expected to begin immediately.
