Mayor Dilkens To Hold Community Walk

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens is inviting the community to come out and support an elderly woman who was viciously attacked on the Ganatchio Trail last weekend.

Dilkens is holding a public walk on Sunday to show support to Mrs Widholm and her family.

The 75-year-old woman was assaulted on the trail near Little River Road last Sunday.

She was found unconscious and was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.

Dilkens says members of the Neighbourhood Watch and Windsor police will be on hand.

"This is one of those odd incidents that happens, you got to come out against it and say we don't support this," says Dilkens.  "This is a safe place to be, we're not afraid to be on our own trails and in our own parks and we're not going to let one person who has been arrested and has been charged ruin our city and how we use our resources in the city."

The walk begins at 11am.

Dilkens would like to the community to meet at the Little River parking lot which is located at the east end of Little River Road just east of Riverdale.

21-year-old Habibullah "Daniel" Ahmed has been charged with aggravated assault.
