Mental Health And Addiction Forum Hosted In Kingsville
Mental health and addiction impacts everyone.
That was the message at a community forum held in Kingsville on Thursday.
The forum was organized by Kingsville Community Centre and the Windsor Essex Community Health Centre.
Jodi Pearce is a health promoter with the health centre.
She says the "Not My Kid" forum started more than a year in LaSalle and focuses on different aspects of mental health and addiction.
Pearce says if you're dealing with mental health and addiction or know someone who is, don't be shy to ask for help.
She says it's important to share personal stories and how you are feeling.
"I think it just makes it more normal and it allows individuals to think it could be, maybe it is my brother that I'm thinking about or my neighbour or my cousin or maybe it's my kid right," says Pearce. "So the signs and symptoms and then they can sort of at least put some pieces together from themselves and know that there are so many resources as well."
The forum featured guest speakers from law enforcement, the medical community and other local agencies who deal with mental health and addiction.
Pearce says expects more forums to take place in the near future.
