More Questions About Impact Of Mega-Hospital Location

The chair of the Essex County Health Coalition feels services will be impacted at Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington if a new hospital moves forward at the proposed site.

Kim DeYong believes services like the Obstetrical Unit could be in jeopardy if the hospital is built on County Road 42 at the Ninth Concession.

The coalition fought to save Leamington's OB Unit in 2015 and if the hospital does move forward at the proposed location, she feels the group will have to fight to save more services in Leamington.

"If the mega hospital location is built in the proposed location, we are looking at possibly seeing that unit threatened again," says DeYong.

According to her, county residents are concerned about losing services at Leamington's hospital.

"I was at one of the first public consultations which was actually held in the Town of Kingsville and the very first question from the community was what about Leamington Hospital," says DeYong."

The Ontario Health Coalition, the Council of Canadians, Windsor on Watch and the Citizens for an Accountable Megahospital Planning Process spoke out against the location and the pending closures of the Met and Ouellette campuses
