National Track Meet In Town
The best university athletes are at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse for National Track and Field Championships this weekend.
Yesterday Lancer fourth year thrower Sarah Mitton captured a silver medal in the women’s weight throw.
The University of Windsor is 5th in the women's overall standings and 6th in the men's after the first day of action.
The Sherbrooke Vert & Or jumped ahead of the pack late in the first day of competition, claiming first and second in the women’s pentathlon.
Amelie Auge won gold by a slim two-point margin after edging out her teammate, Maude Leville in the 800m race.
Auge won 3803 to 3801 to give the Vert & Or a 27-18 lead on the second-place Guelph Gryphons.
In third after the first day of competition were the Manitoba Bisons.
The first field event today is the men's weight throw at 2pm, while the first track event will be the women's 60 meter hurdles at 4:30pm.
