There are some new tools for students and job seekers interested in agriculture and the agri-food sector.

Workforce WindsorEssex has launched a new career guide along with five engagement videos and also plans to hold an Agri-Day in September where workplace tours will happen.

Project Co-ordinator Corey Shenken says there are a variety of jobs within the industry.

"We feel not a lot of people know about the different types of careers that are available in our agriculture and agri-food sector," says Shenken.  So it was mentioned before jobs like HR, accounting, information technology, skilled trades jobs like electricians and wielders."

Mucci Farms Director of Human Resources Carol Bendo believes the guide will benefit the industry.

"The guide is fantastic," says Bendo.  "I just think people don't understand the careers that are available here.  We've always said this industry has an identity crisis and we need to break that."

The new initiatives were announced on Wednesday at Mucci Farms in Kingsville.

The Agri-Day is set for September 24th.

All the new resources including the guide can be found on Workforce WindsorEssex's website
