One Person Arrested After Shots Fired In Windsor

One person has been arrested in connection with a shooting in East Windsor.

Police received several calls late Monday around 5:30pm about shots being fired in the parking lot of an apartment building at 8717 Riverside Dr. E, east of Dieppe Street.

Patrick Lalonde lives in a nearby building and tells AM800 News he heard several shots...

"I went out on the balcony and couldn't see anything," says Lalonde. "But there was a neighbour in the building where all the action was going on and he was yelling out the window for people to get off the sidewalk and the street because there was a shooter."

Lalonde was shocked to hear the gunshots in his usually quiet neighbourhood.

"I have two dogs and they were upset by the noise too. I immediately went, 'Wow, what is that?'" says Lalonde. "It is unsettling, but it seems like the police handled it pretty quickly so that's good news anyway."

Staff-Sgt. Mark Denonville from the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit describes the situation as "serious."

"Patrol units attended the scene and subsequently arrested a male within the apartment building," says Denonville. "There were multiple shots fired. We had received several calls from citizens."

Denonville says the alleged shooter and the target are known to each other, but investigators are trying to determine a motive.

"Nobody was hurt in the incident. However, there were several shots fired into a vehicle. The person is in custody and we are not looking for any other suspects in the matter," says Denonville.

The investigation is ongoing.
