OPP Launch Distract Driving Campaign
Put your cell phones down while driving and pay attention to the road.
That's the message behind the OPP's Distracted Driving campaign beginning March 11 and running until March 17.
Tougher penalties went into effect January 1, 2019 which sees fines up to $1,000, three demerit points and a three-day licence suspension.
In 2018, there were 55 deaths and more than 9,115 collisions linked to an inattentive driver.
Last year, the OPP laid 13,529 distracted driving charges.
