Ottawa is investing $9.9-million to improve Point Pelee National Park.

Minister of Environment and Climate Change Catherine McKenna announced the money will be used to support upgrades to the park's main road.

It will also see electrical and phones lines installed underground to minimize the impact through the forest and coastal savannah habitat, upgrades to sewage treatment and repaving the 7-kilometres of road from the park's entrance to the visitor centre.

The improvements will benefit species at risk and the park's natural habitat, improve water quality and decrease long-term maintenance costs.

Point Pelee National Park is Canada's most biodiverse national park.
