People From Around the World Gather for Family Reunion in Tecumseh

A family reunion for the ages.

More than 100 members of the Ferrari family gathered at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh on Saturday for a family reunion.

The reunion attracted family from Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, the United States and Canada.

81-year-old Nino Marion was there and says he enjoyed interacting with family members.

"The stories from the old days so yes that and really meeting strangers and new people," says Marion.

Marion adds it's important to bring the family together.

"These family reunions are really emotional and quite important to us," says Marion.  "I want photos and names attached and I want conversation.  I want to learn about them."

Anita Calleja was one of seven family members who organized the event and says some family met for the first time at the reunion.

"The people with Facebook have been following this," says Calleja.  "We've had a reunion page and so we've been kind of chit-chatting on Facebook and getting to know each other that way and it's been great.  I like literally walk up to people and say your so and so, so it's been fun."

The Ferrari's immigrated to Windsor in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

There were four generations at the reunion.

The day included a picnic, family games along with looking at the family tree and the family's history.
