Pet-Friendly Business Directory Launched By OSPCA
The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is trying to make it easier for pet-friendly businesses to promote themselves.
It has launched a 'No Hot Pets' Campaign that encourages businesses that allow pets inside, to submit their names to the directory so pet owners are aware of where they can bring their pets.
"The whole point is to get people not to leave their pets in their vehicles because it can be so dangerous and in some cases, even fatal," says OSPCA Spokesperson Kallie Milleman.
Dogs have a limited ability to sweat, so even a short time in a hot environment can be life-threatening.
As of Friday morning, there weren't any Windsor businesses in the directory.
Killeman tells AM800 News, the directory can help people heading out of town too.
"If anybody out in the public is planning a road trip or going up to the cottage, they can visit the directory and find various locations en route where they can bring their pet inside."
Businesses can submit their names and pet owners can find out which businesses are pet-friendly at www.nohotpets.ca
