Picket Line Up At ZF TRW
The picket line is now up at ZF TRW in Windsor.
Workers at the auto parts supplier for the Windsor Assembly plant rejected a tentative deal with the company, with just 38% voting in favour of the offer.
The workers went on strike this morning, setting up a picket outside the plant on Munich Court just off Twin Oaks Dr. near Lauzon Pkwy.
Unifor Local 444 President James Stewart says "some people wanted more in terms of finances. We have to go through a pattern and look at everything that was said today and go through our notes, see if there are any workplace issues we can resolve, but ultimately it just wasn't enough," he says.
Stewart tells AM800 News there will be an impact on Windsor Assembly in the coming days.
"Some of the people there have been angry about some issues that we're trying to resolve and ultimately that reflected in the vote for sure," says Stewart. "The Windsor Assembly Plant will be affected shortly. Chryslers is aware, as are the management at ZF TRW."
Stewart is uncertain when both sides will return to the bargaining table.
