Proposed Changes To A Busy South Windsor Intersection One Step Closer
Windsor's Environment, Transportation and Public Safety Standing Committee has approved some proposed changes at a busy south Windsor intersection.
On Wednesday, the committee voted in favour of eliminating on street parking on Dominion from Northwood to the EC Row Expressway.
Ward 1 councillor Fred Francis sits on the committee and says the parking spots will be replaced with bike lanes.
He says the approval also allows the city to move forward with the environmental assessment for the central box study.
"What this committee has put forward has put forward to city council is to move forward with some EA's, recommendation from the central box to remove parking on Northwood and Dominion and put in to increase the connectivity in and around the area," says Francis.
The committee also agreed to remove existing on street parking on Northwood and extend the bikes lanes from Mark Ave to Longfellow Ave.
The proposed changes are part of the city's South Cameron neighbourhood on-street parking and traffic operations initiative.
The matter still has to go to city council for final approval.
