Public Asked For Input On Councillor Pay

Windsor residents are being encouraged to give their two cents on what a city councillor is paid.

Public meetings are planned for today and tomorrow to discuss federal government changes which will result in a reduction to the take-home pay of elected officials in 2019.

The current base pay for a Windsor city councillor is $28,770.

The last local compensation review was conducted in 2003 and the last raise councillors received was in 2005 when they received a 1.9% pay increase.

The city's review committee will use the input from the meetings as well as data gathered from an online survey to make recommendations to council.

Today's meeting runs 10am to 11am while tomorrow's goes 7pm to 8pm — both are in council chambers on the first floor of City Hall.

If you can't make it to a meeting, you can complete an online survey.
