Push Back Expected Over New South Windsor Crossover
Expect a lively debate over a pedestrian crossover in south Windsor at Monday's Windsor City Council meeting.
The city's Environment, Transportation & Public Safety Committee gave the thumbs up to a pedestrian crossover on Labelle St. at Northway Ave.
A $62,000 crossover near Bellewood Public School to assist students crossing the street will need final approval from council.
The committee also approved the addition of sidewalks leading to the crossover.
Ward 10 Councillor Jim Morrison says he's been hearing from residents on both sides of the issue.
"People that are directly affected with their properties losing parking spaces on their driveways, they really have an issue," he says.
He says sidewalks seem to be the main point of contention.
"I'm still listening to our residents; I know Bike Windsor-Essex has reached out to me as well. We really have some diverging opinions on this."
15 delegations are scheduled to go before city council to argue for and against the move.
