A rare kitten is up for adoption at the Windsor Essex County Humane Society.
Executive Director Melanie Coulter says a four-month-old male tortoiseshell cat named "Klinger" is ready to be adopted.
She says the kitten is unique due to the fact that only about one in every 3000 tortoiseshell cats are males.
"One of our staff was saying he remembers one about 28 years ago so it's rare," says Coulter. "I don't know if that was the last one but definitely something that does not happen very often."
The humane society says the gene that controls the orange and black fur colour is found in the X chromosome.
A male tortoiseshell cat must have three sex chromosomes, two XX's and one Y.
Adoption applications for Klinger will be taken until 6pm on Saturday.
