Reconstruction Planned For The Worst Roads In Windsor
Three Windsor roads, voted as some of the worst in this part of the province, are scheduled to be reconstructed.
The CAA released its annual Worst Roads list yesterday with Seminole St., Huron Church Rd. and Tecumseh Rd. E. in the top five for the South West Region.
City of Windsor Engineer, Mark Winterton says the city roads are rated every year and they know which ones are the bad ones. The three roads mentioned are already scheduled to be reconstructed with work already underway along sections of Tecumseh Rd. E.
"Seminole St. is scheduled for reconstruction, hopefully, this year," says Winterton. "Huron Church, we just got money from the provincial government as part of the connecting link, so you'll see that reconstructed hopefully late this year or early next year."
Crumbling pavement and potholes were listed as the reasons those city streets were voted to the Worst Roads list.
Winterton says Windsor is no different than a lot of other municipalities when it comes to the infrastructure deficit. "We have a lot more need than we have funds allocated and so we just try to do the best we can with the money that comes our way," he says.
It's was the second year in a row Seminole St. made the list and the fourth straight year for Tecumseh Rd. E.
