Red Wings Open Camp

The Red Wings open training camp today in Traverse City with 72 current players and prospects.

The 42 forwards, 23 defensemen and seven goalies will participate in on-ice practices and scrimmages through September 18.

The annual Red and White game will take place Sunday and Detroit will open the preseason against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Little Caesars Arena Wednesday.

Head coach Jeff Blashill said yesterday that he did not have an update on Henrik Zetterberg, who will miss camp and the beginning of the regular season with a back injury, but there may be news on his status today.

Blashill also said WIngs 2018 second-round pick Jared McIsaac will not be ready for the start of training camp after he suffered a shoulder injury during a prospects tournament game earlier this week.
