Red Wings Winning Streak Ends

The Pittsburgh Penguins spotted the Detroit Red Wings a 1-0 lead before blowing on by for a 4-1 win in Pittsburgh.

Jake Guentzel tied the game and Phil Kessel put the Pens ahead with a power-play goal late in the first.

Kessel scored again in the second and Sidney Crosby added a power-play tally in the third as Pittsburgh split the home-and-home.

The Pens have won five-of-seven overall.  Matt Puempel scored his first goal of the season on the power play for Detroit.

The Red Wings had their season-high, six-game winning streak snapped.

Netminder Jimmy Howard made 43 saves in the loss.

The Red Wings will miss the NHL playoffs for the third straight year.  They close out the season Saturday night at home against the Sabres.
