Retired NHLer Ed Jovanovski To Hold His First Charity Golf Classic In Amherstburg
A retired NHLer and former Windsor Spitfire is giving back to his hometown of Windsor-Essex.
Ed Jovanovski has announced the 1st Ed Jovanovski Charity Golf Classic to be held July 13th at Pointe West Golf Club in Amherstburg to support breast cancer research.
Jovanovski picked the charity after his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago.
"A couple of years ago, my mother went through a pretty good battle with breast cancer and she is doing great now," says Jovanovski.
He says the timing is right.
"This area is important for myself and obviously growing up in this area, it has always been a dream of mine to host a golf tournament."

He says watching his mother going through chemo treatment and spending a few days in the hospital was a tough time for the family.
The 40-year-old played in the NHL in Florida, Phoenix and Vancouver.
Jovanovski says he will try to get other NHLers involved in the tournament but he jokes as the host, he is the top player.
