Leaders of school board unions across the province are supporting job action to back contract demands.

During a gathering in Toronto on Tuesday, leaders from the Canadian Union of Public Employees backed a job action plan "that has at its heart the protection of education services for students."

The union represents education workers ranging from education assistants, school secretaries, clerical staff, library workers, maintenance, child and youth workers as well as speech language pathologists.

Talks are currently under way and province-wide strike votes will be taken by the membership before September 17th.

The agreements expires August 31st.
