Seventh Annual Ford City Fireworks Set To Go Off

Ford City is ready to set the sky on fire.

The Ford City Residents in Action group is hosting its 7th annual Ford City Community Fireworks display Saturday.

Organizer Gillian Benoit says there's more to do than just sit back and enjoy the big bangs and the flashing lights.

She told AM800 News, there's something for the whole family.

"We have a live band, we have face painting, we have a bunch of different princesses and super heroes coming out," she says.

Benoit hopes to build on last year's solid turn out.

"Last year we had about 3,500 people, so we're guessing probably more than that, maybe 4,000," says Benoit.

It's a great way to raise money for the community according to Benoit.

"This is our big fundraiser for the year so what we do is we have a barbeque and concession stand," she says. "The funds from that go to fund the different events that we do throughout the year which is Fun Day, Easter, Christmas. We do a bunch of them in the Ford City area."

The party starts at 5pm in Garry Dugal Park on Drouillard Rd at Denning St, with the main event set to go off at dusk.
