Shoppers Drug Mart Donates to W5
If you donated to the Shoppers Drug Mart LOVE YOU campaign, you've helped Windsor Women Working with Immigrant Women.
Shoppers Drug Mart recently handed over a cheque worth $18,947 from the funds raised in the month long campaign back in October.
W5 will use the money to support under funded programs.
Pharmacy owner Dr. Matthew Thibert says the organization does a lot to help immigrant women.
"Health isn't always about just feeling healthy or being healthy, it's about feeling accepted, feeling integrated and feeling part of a community. So to support a charity like W5 who offers that kind of support to the community, was really incredible to see."
Thibert says the funds were raised from customer's donating at the checkout.
"Basically we sell leaves or cardinals or apples, customers can come into the store, there are offerings for them gift baskets and stuff like that to support the funds being raised for the charities, and basically we decorate our store windows with the leaves to help our trees grow in the store."
Interim Executive Director of W5 Olivia Brezeneau says the money will be put to good use.
"Our organization has a 37 years experience but currently although we have so many programs running, but we have a lot of programs that are under funded or not funded."
Shoppers has been running the LOVE YOU campaign since 2002 and has donated $35-million to charities across the country.
