Soulliere Named New Vice-Chair For Catholic School Board

Wednesday's election night saw the public school board maintain its current leadership, and the Catholic board introducing a new vice-chair.

Barbara Holland will remain chair of the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, and Trustee Lisa Soulliere will serve her first term as vice-chair.

Soulliere was elected trustee for Lakeshore in 2000. She sits on the Special Education Advisory, Audit, and
Indigenous Education Advisory Committees for the board.

"The board has come a long way in the last few years. We're very proud of the fact that our students do as well as they do," says Soulliere. "Being one of the top boards in the province is something that our staff and the board of trustees have worked very hard to achieve."

She tells AM800 News ensuring that the board's resources continue to be well managed is a priority.

"I'm looking forward to seeing that continue, and of course, always moving our system forward with improved programs and focus on student achievement while working within a very tight budget," Soulliere says.

Outgoing Vice-Chair Mary DiMenna nominated Soulliere.  DiMenna decided not to run for the position again, but will remain on the board as a trustee. Soulliere says she's grateful for her support.

"It was a nice gesture on her part and it certainly showed her confidence in my abilities to follow her in the position of vice-chair," she says.

Greater Essex County District School Board Trustee Kim McKinley returns as chairperson and Ron LeClair was re-elected to the vice-chair position for a third consecutive year.
