Spitfires Blank Spirit
Michael DiPietro stopped 22 shots as the Spitfires blanked the Saginaw Spirit 4-0 at the WFCU Centre Thursday night.
The shutout was the 17-year-old Amherstburg native's sixth of the season and eighth of his young OHL career -- both Spitfire team records.
Cristiano DiGiacinto, Tyler Angle, Adam Laishram and Sean Day scored for Windsor. For Angle, it was the rookie's first career OHL goal.
Some scary moments in the third period when forward Hayden McCool slid head-first into the end boards and had to be stretchered off the ice with an apparent neck injury.
With the win, Windsor has moved to within two points of Sault Ste. Marie for first-place in the West Division.
The Spitfires are on the road this weekend -- Friday night in Kitchener and Saturday night in Owen Sound.
