A three game winning streak wasn't in the cards for the Windsor Spitfires Friday night after a back and forth battle with the Niagara Ice Dogs at the Meridian Centre.
The Ice Dogs were looking to end a three game skid with overage goaltender Stephen Dhillon between the pipes, rookie Kari Piiroinen started in place of veteran Michael DiPietro.
Windsor struck early with Chris Playfair's second goal of the season, he netted the game winner in Thursday's win over the Barrie Colts at the WFCU Centre Thursday night. Billy Constantinou would answer back for Niagara with a couple minutes left in the third to tie things up 1-1.
Niagara would go first but the goal exchange would continue in the second with Ice Dogs' Akil Thomas and Spitfire Mathew MacDougall scoring minutes apart to finish the second knotted 2-2.
Thomas scored his second of the game mid-way through the third for a 3-2 lead. Jordan Frasca answered for the Spitfires with just three-minutes remaining in the game but the Ice Dogs' Philip Tomasino would beat Piiroinen in the final minutes for a 4-3 win.
Windsor heads Erie to face the Otters Sunday, puck drops at 4pm.
