Spitfires Goalie DiPietro Invited to Team Canada Camp

Windsor Spitfires goalie Mike DiPietro is hoping the second time's the charm.

He's been invited to the Team Canada Selection Camp for the 2019 World Juniors Tournament.

The 19-year-old from Amherstburg says his plan is to let his game speak for itself.

"I'm going with an open mind, take it day by day, puck by puck and hopefully put a good foot forward and make the team and eventually win gold," says DiPietro. "This my second time around and hopefully make it right.  I'm super-excited and blessed for this opportunity and I'm really hoping to make the best of it."

"I've got to play my game and let my game do the talking and still carry myself the Canadian way and be who Michael DiPietro is and hoping that's good enough to earn me a spot on the team," adds DiPietro, last year's OHL Goaltender of the Year.

DiPietro was not selected for the 2018 World Junior Tournament, as he was one of the last cuts, but is optimistic about making the team this time.

He's looking forward to see former Spitfire teammate Gabe Vilardi who has been selected to the camp.

DiPietro says he's also looking forward to see Tecumseh native Jack Studnicka at the camp.
