Spitfires Looking to Clinch OHL Playoff Spot

Win and they're in.

The Windsor Spitfires head to Sarnia to battle the Sting on Friday night for the final regular season OHL game for the Spits.

It's the biggest game of the regular season for Windsor. If the Spitfires win, they lock up a Western Conference playoff spot and will either face London or Saginaw in the first round.

Head Coach Trevor Letowski says it's a big game.

"There's so many moving parts right now that we want to get two points and just control," says Letowski.  "Like now it's down to the last game and we kind of control our fate that if we win it, we're definitely in and we might pass Sarnia depending on what they do."

Head-to-head this season, the Spitfires have won three of the five games versus Sarnia.

"We've won the last few games and they've been kind of sitting waiting for us," says Letowski.  "For one of the first times all year they're a desperate team, they're not in yet either."

The Spits picked-up a point on Thursday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Flint.

Windsor and Sarnia both have 59 points while the Erie Otters have 56 points.

Sarnia still has two more games versus Flint this weekend while the Otters play in Guelph Friday night before hosting the Storm on Saturday.

This is the last game of the regular season for the Spits.

The puck drops at 7pm and AM800's pre-game show with Steve Bell gets underway at 6:45pm.
