Spitfires Mauled By Wolves
The last place Sudbury Wolves handed the Windsor Spitfires a 4-3 loss at the WFCU Centre Thursday.
Windsor jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first with back to back goals from Mathew MacDougall and Curtis Douglas, but it would be all Sudbury from there.
Drake Pilon and Liam Ross would tie things up 2-2 for the Wolves to close out the first-frame, two of four unanswered goals.
Pilon would put his second of the game past Spitfire goalie Michael DiPietro to close the second period to make it 3-2 Sudbury. Nolan Hutcheson put the Wolves up 4-2 mid-way through the third.
The two-goal cushion would be the difference maker as Windsor's Luke Kutkevicius scored his 11th of the season 14:45 into the third, but Sudbury goalie Marshall Frappier held Windsor off for the 4-3 win.
Windsor remains tied with the Guelph Storm for the eighth and final playoff spot in the OHL's Western Conference, one point behind the seventh placed Saginaw Spirit.
The Spitfires travel to Saginaw's Dow Event Center to face the Spirit Saturday at 7:05pm.
