Spitfires Winless Streak Hits Five

Windsor will return to the WFCU Centre after a two-game road-swing winless after a 3-2 shootout loss in OHL action against the Steelheads in Mississauga.

It's the second straight shootout loss of the weekend for the Spitfires.

It took just eight-minutes for Mississauga to solve Spitfire goalie Colton Incze on C.J. Clark's eighth goal of the season.

The Steelheads would hold onto a 1-0 lead until midway through the second period when Windsor's Tyler Angle tied things up 1-1 after breaking up a clearing attempt in the slot to score his 16th goal of the year on the powerplay.

Windsor almost made it to the dressing room on even footing, but Nick McHugh pulled the Steelheads ahead 2-1 with under a minute left in the second frame.

Cole Purboo beat Jacob Ingham top shelf from the slot to tie things up 2-2 with just over two-minutes left in the third-period of Sunday's game to send it to overtime.

It would take a shootout to decide the winner as Cole Carter scored the lone goal on Incze — Ingham shut the door on the Spitfires for Mississauga.

Incze was named third star of the game after stopping 51 of the 53 shots in a losing effort.

Windsor is still three points up on the idle Erie Otters for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference — despite extending their winless streak to five games.

The Spitfires welcome the Sarnia Sting to the WFCU Centre Thursday — puck drops at 7:05pm.

Tune into AM800 for all the action.
