Spits GM Warren Rychel Sees Tough Choices For Next Head Coach

The selection of the next Head Coach for the Windsor Spitfires is both easy and complicated at the same time.

GM Warren Rychel says he and team President Bob Boughner have been approached by dozens of potential replacements already. He says the organization has created a positive impression in the hockey world and the best talent wants to be here.

Rychel says it would be easy to simply elevate Assistant Coach Trevor Letowski to the to job, but it's not that simple, there are things going on within the organization. He says they have no shortage of potential next coaches, since the news was Tweeted out they've had calls from at least 30 coaches who are interested.

Rychel says the selection of Head Coach is only part of what needs to be decided.

"We've got decisions to make — how many guys to keep on the bench," says Rychel. "A busy time for me with the scouts — import draft's coming up. You know it's been a week since we won and now we've got a lot of work to do here to get to the draft, work on the imports, call the agents as you know."

Rychel says he doesn't want to drag out the coaching decision, saying it should be done by the end of June.

He adds that Letowski has had a number of NHL and AHL teams calling about his availability.
