Spits Out-Gun Rangers In Kitchener

Windsor managed to outlast the Mid-West Division leading Kitchener Rangers for an 8-5 victory on the road Tuesday.

Jake Smith opened the scoring for the Spitfires with his sixth goal of the season at the four minute mark, the first of four unanswered goals on eight shots by the Spitfires that chased Kitchener goalie Luke Richardson from the game.

Adam Mascherin and Cole Carter finally responded for the Rangers to finish the first trailing 4-2.

Kitchener fought back In the second, led by two-more-goals from Mascherin to complete the hat-trick, but Windsor kept the pressure on. Luke Boka scored his second of the game and sixth goal of the season in the second  to keep Windsor up 6-5, that goal proved to be the game winner.

Windsor added two more to run the score to 8-5 in the third and put game out of reach. Aaron Luchuk racked up a hat-trick for the Spits to earn first star of the game honours.

The Erie Otters visit the WFCU Centre to face the Spitfires Thursday. Tune into AM800 at 6:30 for the pre-game show followed by all the action at 7:05pm.
