St. Angela Merici Festival Opens 31st Year

The annual St. Angela Merici Festival is in full swing for Windsor's Italian community.

It's the 31st year for the event which kicked off Saturday night and runs all day Sunday on Erie St. E.

Live music, food, and family activities will highlight the day Sunday.

Festival Committee Chair Dan Castellan hopes to attract a diverse crowd again this year.

"All are welcome, it's open to everybody to just come enjoy the culture and have some fun," he says.

He says the festival tried a few new things this year to make sure everyone knows what's in store.

"We've been advertising a little bit more through lawn signs and social media. I think it's helping out," says Castellan.

A traditional candle light procession down Erie Street E. with the statue of St. Angela Merici will leave St. Angela Merici Church after its 31st anniversary mass at 7:30pm Sunday night.
