Stars Down Flyers In Leamington

It's a 4-1 loss for the Leamington Flyers to the St. Thomas Stars at Highbury Canco Arena after the Flyers opened the scoring.

The Flyers would head into the second period up a goal only to see the Stars score a pair in each of the next two periods.

Cale Phibbs had the goal for the Flyers, assisted by Blake Bain and Jaydon Fetter.

Dane Jonstone had two late goals for the Stars to seal the win, including an empty netter.

The Flyers started off strong, outshooting the Stars 16-11, but were outshot 17-8 in the second period before firing 13 pucks on next in the third period as the team tried to pull back into the game. Shot totals stood even at 37 apiece after three periods.

Noah Hendrick made 33 saves in the Flyers net while Cooper Seedott made 36 saves for the Stars.

There was little riding on the game for the Flyers, as the team will remain in 4th place in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Western Conference with 59 points. The Flyers are ten points back of the London Nationals in 3rd place and are 11 points up on the Sarnia Legionnaires in 5th place — London has two games left in the season while Sarnia has just one.

The Flyers close out the season against the last placed Lambton Shores Predators on Saturday at 7:30pm.
