Summer Fest Takes Over Windsor's Waterfront
Summer Fest is in full swing on Windsor's waterfront.
AM800's Patty Handysides chatted with organizer Maggie Durocher about the big event on the Afternoon News.
Durocher says the annual event includes entertainment, food, games, rides, and fireworks — something for everybody.
"We've got musicians, we've got Zoology, we have a wonderful relationship with the Multi-Cultural Council [of Windsor-Essex] and they'll have a lot of their different dance groups that will be performing on the stage," she says.
She says there's a full line-up of free fun.
"Characters on the midway, get your picture taken with a Marvel character one day or one of the Gotham characters from Batman another day," she says. "Lots and lots to see. Our schedule is posted. We're really looking forward to it."
Fireworks night lands on June 24 this year, it's free to the public, but Durocher says they'll continue The Windsor Riverfront Fireworks Party for those who want to get a little closer to the action.
There are still tickets available for the party, dinner, drinks, and the closest seat in the city.
"I think it's our 12th year doing this party and it's wonderful. It's a great opportunity to see the fireworks. You can't get any closer unless you're in the water. We tell people that the only thing between you and the fireworks is the green rail," says Durocher.
Summer Fest wraps up on or Canada Day.
